Getting your home back in shape doesn’t happen by accident. It takes experience and a tried and tested system that can be deployed quickly and with total confidence. When disaster strikes, C&D Constructionss take control of the emergency, manages and provides progress reports at every stage of the project.

Assess the damage, establish the scope of works, and commence emergency mitigation.

Determine and report on what items are cost effective to restore.

Provide a quotation or in the case of emergency mitigation, we can commence work with estimates provided to include a time to completion.

Provide on-going consulting and/or project management.

• Limit movement in the home to prevent soot particles from being imbedded into upholstery and carpets.
• Keep hands clean. Soot on hands can further soil upholstery, walls and woodwork.
• Blow or brush vacuum loose soot particles from upholstery, drapes and carpet Place clean towels or old linens on rugs, upholstery and carpet traffic areas.
• If electricity is off, empty freezer and refrigerator completely and prop doors open.
• Clean and protect chrome on kitchen and bathroom taps, trim and appliances with light coating of vaseline or oil.
• Wash house plants on both sides of leaves.
• Change HVAC filter.
• Tape double layers of cheese cloth over air registers and / or filter media.

• Attempt to wash any walls or painted surfaces without first contacting your C&D Restoration professional.
• Attempt to shampoo carpet or upholstered furniture without consulting a C&D professional.
• Attempt to clean any electrical appliances, TV sets, computers etc that may have been close to fire, heat or water without first consulting an authorised repair service.
• Use any canned or packaged food or beverages that may have been stored close to fire, heat or water.
• Turn on ceiling fixtures if ceiling is wet. Wiring may be damaged or wet.
• Send garments to ordinary dry cleaner. Improper cleaning may set smoke odour.

Levels of restorations include the most basic being a simple clean up to procedures used to remediate a specific level of damage. Since the funds for most fire or water repairs are paid by insurance, the standards of insurance should be respected which means that the cost of restoration should not exceed the value of the property.

All of these questions and more must be answered on each job, every day, by way of our “Site Assessment”. On larger jobs C&D Restorations can implement a written site specific safety plan if required.

• Remove as much excess water as possible by mopping and blotting.
• Wipe excess water from wood furniture.
• Remove and prop wet upholstery and pillow cushions for even drying.
• Place foam blocks underneath furniture to elevate above wet carpeting.
• Turn air conditioning on for maximum drying in summer.
• Remove oriental rugs or other coloured rugs from wet carpeting.
• Remove valuable paintings and art objects to a safe, dry place.
• Gather loose items from floors.

• Leave wet fabrics in place; dry as soon as possible. Hang furs and leather goods to dry separately at room temperature.
• Leave books, magazines or other coloured items on wet carpets or floors.
• Use computers or electrical appliances while standing on wet carpets or floors, especially not on wet concrete floors.
• Turn on ceiling fixtures if ceiling is wet. Wiring may be damaged or wet.
• Go into rooms where ceilings are sagging from retained water.
• Go into rooms with standing water if electricity is still connected.
• Lift tacked-down carpet without professional help. Lifting the carpet incorrectly could promote shrinkage.
• Wait to call for professional restoration help. Damage from the water and bacterial growth can begin within hours.
